This is Star. She's an Andulusian/Quarter horse cross. I've had her for 4 years now. We picked her up from the kitchener auction. Jeff (the meat buyer) wanted to buy her to send her off to be slaughtered. The only ones bidding on her were my parents and Jeff. I had to get her. She was the most gorgeous horse I had ever seen, all she needed was some training. So we bought her and took her home. I've trained her to Barrel Race. She's fast and next season I plan on taking her in the Dodge Rodeo Circuit. She's one of the quickest horses I've ever seen. So hopefully that will go as planned. I love her a lot, she's like the mother of the herd. Every other horse we've had has always looked to her for love. Cutest thing ever to see. :)
Update: March, 24th. 2007
Star was just sold. :( My parents were the ones who wanted to sell her. It was one of the saddest things ever. I felt horrible for putting her on that trailer. She fought me the whole way down to it and still fought me when I was putting her on it. Then once she was tied in the trailer she put her neck around me and didn't want me to leave. :( Try having something like that happen and not crying. :( Saddest thing ever.
This is Pretty Boy. I recently sold him to a little girl up in Timmins. It was one of the saddest and hardest things to do. I've had this horse forever. I trained him to be roadsafe, I've gotten him to be bombproof. I trusted this horse with my life. I don't know how to swim and yet I would take him into ponds and lakes that were way over his and my heads. I trusted him not to let me fall in, and he never did. If he ever felt me slipping he would pull himself under me more and would slow his movement down just so I could get a better grip. Over the summers we would go riding everyday with Christine, Echo, Jamie and Red. We've ridden everywhere. Back when I wasn't a very confident rider, I felt as though I could do anything on him. He was an amazing horse. I miss him dearly. He's helped me through some tough times, when I had no one that I could trust enough to confide in, he was there for me. Sometimes I wish I could have him back, but I know that his new little girl loves him very much and needs him more than I do now.
This is Promise. Her full registration name is Baronial Secret Promise. She's 3 and a half years old. I bought her before she was born from a Morgan breeder out in colbourne. She was the first horse I ever bought without any assistance from my parents. She's my baby. I've taken her in a couple shows, she's really spirited which makes her so fun to take to the different shows. She's acts like the Thoroughbred's on the race track most of the time. She well behaved with me but not anyone else. It's because I'm the only one who ever works with her. Everyone else is afraid of her. She's definately not a horse to play around with. She's extremely strong (even though she doesn't look it). I love her so much. She's the cutest thing ever. She can be an ass at times but she means well. Even though she acts dangerous, deep down she means well. This picture was taken at the Shelburne Fairgrounds. It was our first show when she was a yearling. We got 4th place in the halter class I took her into.
This is Cooper. He was my first horse, well pony. lol. He was a paint/Halflinger cross. My parents got him for me as a Christmas present. It was the best present ever. He was 7 months old when I got him and was completely untrained. My parents gave him to me as a present and told me to figure his training out by myself. He's taught me a lot. He was the first horse I trained for riding and then later on I trained him to jump. He was an amazing horse. When he was 3 we sold him to a little girl up in Stouffville. Kristen is the best, and she's continued his training perfectly. She shows him constantly and is always winning red ribbons (1st place) I'm so proud of those two. Next season Kristen is taking Cooper into the Trillium Circuit. It's gonna be fun to watch.
This is Chelsey. She's a 4 year old Thoroughbred mare that we picked up at Kitchener auction. Funny story behind this one. When we bought her, Glen (the Horsetrader we bought her off of) came over to me and said "Put that horse straight back through the auction ring, she's gonna get someone hurt." I just said "No, that's alright. I think I'll take my chances on her." And that was that. I took her home and the next day I hopped on her bareback and I rode her. She had never been ridden before but she trusted me enough to let me ride her. You could tell that she was nervous around people though. Considering where she came from. Glen isn't the kindest with him horses. He's the type of person that would hit a horse with a 2x4 to discipline them. It's horrible.
